With a background in photography, Emma Van Den Broeck (°1994, Bruges) started in 2017 in the direction In Situ3 at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. She conducts formal research which is mainly carried out in installations. She uses a simple and playful visual language that depicts complex subjects. The commonplace forms her playing field from which she draws inspiration from man-made objects and constructions. She removes these, often found, objects or patterns from their teleology by means of a simple intervention.
