Walls have ears

Yi Zhang is a visual artist with a strong interest in the boundaries of private space and public space and their possible poetic meanings. In her installation Walls have ears, she explores pipes: a highly functional but often overlooked part of modern architecture. Most of them are hidden and pass through different rooms or apartments. As water passes through, the dynamics of other homes leak through their surroundings. By making autonomous constructions with this material, Yi Zhang seeks out the turning point between the impersonal and the personal, and creates an awareness of the many hidden connections between people.
